Amelia was a 34 year old nurse who died alone in her flat whilst battling with an ongoing investigation

The allegations, according to her friends and family were unfounded

We hope that the Coroner will be able to shine a light on the poor safeguarding that the NMC currently provide to anyone under investigation

As a meeting with Paul Rees and his team on Thursday 26th March NMCWatch highlighted this again and that current processes in place are not sufficient and not being improved swiftly enough

NMCWatch has been highlighting the mental health crisis that ALL registrants undergoing FtP suffer and that the NMC still fail in putting that risk forefront and central.

We agree with regulation - what we don't agree with is the lack of humanity, compassion and kindness that is lacking during process currently.

Currently the NMC has 2 members of staff in their safeguarding and wellbeing team - to  have oversight for 6 1/2 thousand referrals a year - this is simply not enough resource and the resource is there as is prioritised to external law firms  and external consultants.

Paul Rees responded by saying there are waiting for legislative changes to make many of the changes that are needed

We responded by saying there is no legislation out needed to be kind
