Imagine a neighbourhood in Squamish where local workers and families can afford to own their homes forever — and where affordability is protected for generations. That’s what DWIFT Housing Society is proposing for the remaining Pioneer Way lands.

Following the sale of half of these lands to a private developer, the Mayor shared with the community a focus on lasting community benefit for the remainder of the land. The land at Pioneer Way is one of the last major pieces of public land in Squamish — and the decisions made now will shape our town for decades.

This is our moment to show that residents want to be part of the solution.
DWIFT Housing Society has proposed a collaborative path forward:
➡️ purchasing a portion of the land at full market value
➡️ building a permanently affordable homeownership community
➡️ creating long-term benefit for local workers, families, and future generations

This is a chance for a win-win — supporting the District’s financial needs while strengthening affordability in our community.
