The Issue

As South Africans, we are facing a severe unemployment crisis. According to Stats SA, our unemployment rate is over 32%, with youth unemployment even higher. Many qualified young people, graduates, and small business owners cannot find work.

While South Africa is a welcoming nation, we believe our government must put policies in place that ensure South Africans are given first preference when it comes to job creation, skills development, and employment opportunities.

This is not about hate. It is about survival and dignity for families who were born and raised here, who pay taxes here, and who need to feed their children here.

We call on the Department of Employment and Labour and Parliament to:

 1. Implement clear policies that prioritise South African citizens for available jobs where skills exist locally

 2. Ensure employers first consider South African candidates before hiring from outside

 3. Support small businesses like tailors, builders, and traders who employ local youth

4. Invest more in training and education for young South Africans so they are ready for the job market

Even if you are still in high school or university, this affects your future. When you finish studying, you will need a job. Let us stand together and make sure our voices are heard.
