Update on Petition to stop big fast food outlet in Strathalbyn

Thankyou everyone who has supported this petition! It is exciting to see the community concern over this issue. We have passed the 100 supporters mark and are working towards the next 100.

A letter has been submitted to the Minister for Transport, the Hon Tom Koutsantonis to raise our concerns and ask for a hold on the decision. We have asked for a month to raise our concerns. At this stage his department is holding all the cards and so the petition needs to focus on transport as our major concern despite the objection of many people with other issues.

We are also looking for community organisiations and groups who would like to submit a letter of Objection. If you are aware of a group that would be willing to do this, please let me know and I can send them a sample letter.

I always knew this petition would be a bit of a long shot, David vs Goliath type of fight. But if we don't take a stand against the giants, they get away with doing whatever they want. I am so proud to be a part of this beautiful community of Strathalbyn. The fact that you are all standing up and putting your voice behind this issue increases our chances of success. It is through caring about our community, our youth and the essence of what it means to live here that makes this place what it is. Let's not stop caring, but keep fighting for what we believe in. Just because it is a long shot, doesn't make it any less worth fighting for.
