Printing Allowance for Students at the University of Texas at Austin

Printing Allowance for Students at the University of Texas at Austin
The Issue
The current printing payment system at the University of Texas at Austin negatively impacts students who have to worry more about paying their bills rather than passing their classes. Providing a basic allowance for printing can guarantee that students will have access to providing physical assignments for professors when required, making copies for resumes for career opportunities, and thrive in an educational environment that doesn't measure their success by their ability to afford the necessities, but by their potential to change the world.
Student Government passed a resolution to institute a pilot program printing allowance, but they will need our help to make it happen. By placing your name behind this effort, you contribute to the success of your friends, classmates, professors, and the future of our university. This effort represents something far greater than just printing. It shows that we have the ability to improve the institution we represent to better serve its people, because The University of Texas at Austin is nothing without its students, and its on us to change it for the better.
The resolution will institute a student printing allowance pilot program starting at $2.00 for students who don't receive the $100 Bevo Pay allowance for on-campus living, beginning in the fall semester of 2025. This will allow the university to assess the cost and effectiveness of the program and increase the amount for later semesters based on student usage. A copy of the current resolution with FAQs (as of 02/16/25) can be found here. (Currently pending the signed copy as it was passed on 03/04/25).
