Discrimination Hearing for Princeton Student on Use of N-Word on Social Media

The Issue

On his public Facebook account, responded to a POC’s comment and not only used the N word, but also implied that said person would use violent tendencies against him in a discriminatory fashion. Many students have voiced their strong disagreement and condemning of  words and stances online due to the discomfort and strong emotional responses they cause, and actions like these must be met with proper consequences. Since the University has not yet responded (though they have been tagged on social media in posts related to this event), this petition is here to bring even more attention to the matter and hold all students on campus accountable for their words and actions, especially when discriminatory against marginalized peoples. The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity Has hearings on discriminatory statements made by students, and these issues can also be addressed by ODUS. This petition is a call for action from the University on this subject matter and to show the zero tolerance that true Princeton students have for racism and oppression by our members on or off campus.
