Make Witherspoon Street a Pedestrian and Dining Paradise!

The Issue

In 2020, Witherspoon Street in downtown Princeton has been remodeled to create more space for pedestrian use and outdoor dining. Based on the success of this experiment, we - the residents of Princeton and surrounding areas - call on the Princeton Council to implement a permanent redesign for Witherspoon Street that puts people first. We support a Witherspoon Street that's safe and accessible to residents and visitors of all ages and abilities, a public place where we can enjoy art and music and everything that helps to define a vibrant downtown. With this redesign, we are more likely than ever to spend time in and around Witherspoon - dining, shopping, and gathering with friends and family. Many other locations have shown that people-friendly streets are good for business. And this will ensure that our downtown remains a unique and inviting destination for years to come.
