While the make-up of our next Parliament and Government remains up in the air pending the result of the upcoming federal election, one thing is for certain. Christian Porter will not be in Parliament or in Government, having chosen to retire - and that's down to you as well as thousands of others who demanded that he be held accountable, by signing our petition calling for an independent inquiry into the serious allegations made against him, and calling for him to reveal his secret supporters funding his legal action. Let's raise the standard of Australian politics across the board - support Australian Politics Watchdog to demand honesty, integrity and transparency in parliament, to strengthen our democracy: https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/for-honest-politics/ While Mr Porter complains of a witch hunt against him, at Australian Politics Watchdog, we see a politician called to account for his actions. Thank you for playing your part! Unfortunately such accountability is a rare commodity in Australian politics and becoming rarer. Democracy and political integrity is under threat in Australia and around the world like never before. Australian Politics Watchdog has been established with the mission of protecting and strengthening our democracy, by bathing our parliament in bright sunlight and holding our politicians to account. In the lead up to this election, we are demanding 4 key policy pillars of candidates across the political spectrum: * CORRUPTION CLEAN UP: A 'best model' federal integrity and anti-corruption commission based on the most effective corruption busting bodies in Australia and around the world * THE END OF SECRET 'BIG MONEY' POLITICS: a total overhaul of poltiical donation laws to end big secret donations by the rich and powerful designed to influence and 'buy' politicians * THE END TO PORK BARRELLING: strong independent processes to ensure taxpayer money is allocated based on need, and not on 'vote buying' in marginal electorates * HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION for all: to paraphrase Mahatma Gandhi, the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable and least priviledged members - our refugees, our homeless, our trans teens, our domestic violence survivors, our unemployed, our people with disabilities. A strong democracy requires strong anti-corruption, transparency and accountability measures and protections for all citizens regardless of background or circumstance. Please support Australian Politics Watchdog demand a better way to do politics, and a stronger democracy for all Australians. Every donation whether $5 or $500 goes a long way.
