Dec 16, 2021

Hi there,

It’s now been four months since Kabul fell to the Taliban. But despite sustained community pressure there’s been very little action from our Government to respond to the humanitarian crisis that’s unfolding.

That’s why we’ve organised a Christmas Vigil for Afghanistan, to call on Alex Hawke MP to stop standing in the way of people’s safety and for our Government to do more to help.

Can you join our panel of special guests as they reflect on what this time means for communities and families in both Afghanistan and Australia?

Online // 21 December, 4:30 – 5:30 PM

As we gather together to celebrate the holiday season, we will reflect on how we must persevere in seeking justice for the people from Afghanistan who face an escalating humanitarian crisis.

We will look back at the incredible actions of hope and solidarity that have been taken through our campaigns over these past months, and provide an update on campaign plans for when we return in 2022.

The panel:

  • Mariam Veiszadeh - Lawyer and award-winning human rights champion. Mariam is an Afghan Australian and CEO of Media Diversity Australia.
  • Benjamin Law –Australian writer and broadcaster, and passionate advocate for people seeking asylum
  • Tim Costello – Social justice advocate and Executive Director of Micah Australia.

We hope to see you there,

Arif Hussein, on behalf of #ActionForAfghanistan
