We hhanded over 189,140 of your petition signatures calling for #ActionForAfghanistan to Minister for Immigration Alex Hawke.

He refused to meet with us, but we went anyway.

The petition was handed over by Tamkin Hakim, an Afghanistan-Australian member of the Hills Shire community, who was joined by the family of lawyer and human rights advocate Mariam Veiszadeh and local church leaders.

Tamkin said:

“It has been very difficult for myself and my family since the Taliban took over Kabul. I am worried about my relatives back home.”

“As an Australian myself, I am asking for the Australian Government to take Action For Afghanistan, now.”

But Minister Hawke is still standing in the way of people's safety.

Please, double the pressure by calling Minister Alex Hawke’s office today - (02) 9899 7211.

Ask him why he won’t provide the much needed 20,000 humanitarian visas needed to protect people from the Taliban.

Today marks the end of the Week of Action for Afghanistan and there has been a huge outpouring of support.

We’ve had over 100 prominent Australians join the call for action, including Australian of the Year Grace Tame and Tamie Fraser.

There have been daily events featuring community members from across Australia.

A billboard, sent around Minister for Immigration Alex Hawke’s electorate, has produced hundreds of calls to his office.

And today we ran a full-page advertisement in the Sydney Morning Herald showcasing the almost 200,000 voices calling for the Government to take action.

With the Government expected to be making a decision soon, we must keep the pressure on!

So please, call Minister Alex Hawke’s office today on (02) 9899 7211.

Thank you for your incredible support.
