Penang South Reclamation is ignoring the climate crisis!

While claiming to target 40% reduction, the reclamation project will generate an additional 3.2 million tons of carbon emissions annually. In 2016 Malaysia’s carbon emissions per capita was around 8.5 metric tonnes per capita, more than double since 1992. This one single construction project is expected to add another 2 metric tonnes per capita for every man, woman, and child in Penang.

The Penang South Reclamation is yet another environmentally destructive project which will hasten our global climate crisis and the collapse of fisheries.

We must do whatever we can to leave a better world for the future generation.
