Shed a tear now, for you may not be able to cry tomorrow.
After that massive support for Tigress Avni, I request you all to spare a minute.
The Bullet Train is going to gobble up 54,000 mangroves - equivalent to five-and-a-half Azad Maidans' size - and no one in the government bothers.
The consequences are going to be disastrous.
Mangroves act as a buffer between the sea/creek and coast saving us from tidal attacks and erosion.
They also serve as breeding ground for fish and crabs.
Aren't Rly Minister Piyush Goyal and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar aware of this? Both have Mumbai connections. Both ought to have seen the island city getting flooded.
We hjave already witnessed the impact of killing mangroves in Uran where five villages had floods in February. In July, it's a worse story.
The government talks of replanting the mangroves. Its a big hoax and racket, too. None of the replanted mangroves survives at Charkop and Bhandup in Mumbai.
Wake up, Mumbai and raise your voice. Stop this nonsense before it is too late.
Thanks and regards.
