Connect drought-hit villages of India to their nearest rivers by constructing canals
The Issue
Hundreds of farmers are dying and several thousands are struggling to survive due to scarcity of water. Women and children have to walk miles for a pot of water. Farmers are committing suicide. This is an annually recurring issue.
But some relief can be provided to them by building canals or by connecting pipelines from these villages to their nearest rivers. Moreover, the good news is that this year we may receive 6% more rainfall according to the MeT Department. So instead of overflowing, the water from these rivers/dams will flow to these villages which hardly receive any rainfall. This will also improve the capacity of these dams/rivers.
This has already been done by two individuals in Gujarat, twice, that too without any Government support. See this:

Hence, I request the Government to start work in this direction with utmost priority. Imagine if two people can do this much without any Government support, we can definitely expect huge improvement if the Government can take this responsibility themselves.
