Joanna Lumley here.

I wonder if you might feel able to squeeze some time out of your no doubt busy life to use this link, and urge your MP to join what is now an almost deafening clarion call that the Prime Minister should move mountains to find a brief few moments to spend with the heroic World War Two veteran Anne Puckridge when she makes her epic journey from Canada on the eve of her 100th birthday in December. I added my call a couple of days ago as you can read here.

As you’ll know as a signee of her fabulous petition, Anne is representing some 453,000 UK state pensioners whose pensions are subject to this quite bizarre ‘freeze’ because they moved abroad, often in later life to be near family. They feel so badly let down. They all paid their required National Insurance dues in the UK. Some, like Anne, served in the Armed Forces, and all contributed in some way to making our country what it is. Most weren’t even told about this so-called ‘freeze’.

I’m told that the outpouring of support for Anne has touched her deeply and is fuelling her fortitude to make what at her age is quite an arduous journey.

Using this link will only take a few seconds but would mean the world to Anne and the pensioners she represents, as it’s sure to help encourage your MP to add their voice to the cause.

With my warmest good wishes,

Joanna
