'Federal government open to new law to fight pandemic misinformation'

We are currently experiencing an unprecedented worldwide crisis, both in relation to the spread of a novel virus, as well as the spread of rampant misinformation, hoping to leverage fear, distrust, false hope and complacency.

We cannot allow inaction to ultimately sabotage our public health efforts and to further threaten the safety of our vulnerable populations and the health of our communities.

I fully support the Canadian government's efforts in combating malicious COVID-19 misinformation, through legislation declaring it an offence to do so, and I ask them to reconvene swiftly on this pressing matter.
