Dear Supporters
Thanks for signing. On Saturday we attended the Durham Miners Gala to take our call for Windrush Justice and an independent public inquiry to the wider labour movement.
The General Federation of Trade Unions gave their support and on the Gala march many people applauded our banner as we passed and came up to us to give us messages of solidarity and thank us for our presence there and the work we are doing to seek justice.
After such wonderful support it was disappointing to be on the receiving end of vile racist abuse by attendees at the end when we were leaving. Racists and fascists have no place attending such an event but it was a reminder of the importance of standing up to all forms of racism and fascism. Had more people including politicians and the wider labour movement opposed the so called 'hostile environment ' and racist immigration policies and laws when they were first proposed there would have been no space for them to grow.
Groups like mine were warning of the impacts including the specific impacts on the Windrush generation back in 2012 when we co-formed the Movement Against Xenophobia.
It is essential that the truth of how these events came to be are exposed and those responsible are held accountable.
I would be grateful if you could help us in gaining more signatures by sharing this petition with your networks.
Best Wishes and thanks
