As part of the announcement yesterday Mr. Davies outlined some of the infrastructure that would be needed in the PBPA for the hub. A CHEC owned and operated Coal Fired energy plant was on the list. Mr. Davies went on to do a sales pitch of all the positive benefits the development would bring to Jamaica.
He set out to dispel some of the misinformation surrounding the project. One which was that it was reported that the sale had already gone through, naming the time, place and amount of this sale. We had someone post that information on the Face Book page and widely rejected it because there was no creditable information to back the claim. We saw it as planted information in hopes of us taking the bait and running with it. We didn't bite.
We see 3 main issues that have emerged:
1) Environmental
2) Cultural Heritage (PBPA was home to Taino tribes)
3) Human Rights (under the Freedom & Rights charter amended to the Constitution 2012).
