The Taino Tribe people inhabited some 200 villages along the south coast of Jamaica, primarily around the PBPA. There have been artifacts as well as cave paintings found in the area. The Taino people where master carvers & potters, living mostly off of the sea, but had been known to have voiceless dogs as not only pets but hunting companions. The PBPA while it has had some archeological research done, it has not had any larger scale research done to determine exact locations of areas of cultural importance, making the PBPA not only important for the rich biodiversity it contains but the cultural heritage it contains. Our hope in pointing this out is to not only enlighten you, but to let the GOJ know the full the importance of the PBPA and why it must remain protected.
