Whatever happens to Girtrell and respite on Wirral should be done honestly, openly, transparently and democratically. It appears that Wirral borough council do not believe in these principles as they are trying to avoid public debate and scrutiny of this issue by passing the final decision to one councillor and to the officer who came up with the closure proposal in the first place. The council meets at 6pm tonight when a motion calling for full council consideration of any revised respite arrangements will be made. If you can attend Wallasey Town Hall tonight (5.30) to protest and show your support, please do so. If you cannot and you are a Wirral resident / voter, please email your councillor (listed in the previous update) to demand proper public scrutiny of this vital decision. Our representatives need to know that we will hold them to account. An up to date copy of the petition will also be presented - thank you for your support
