WBC will tell you that "no decision has been taken" and that service users will receive an unspecified replacement which will be "better or equal". Yet Girtrell Court staff have been told that their jobs "have been deleted" and until this carer campaign forced a grudging extension to the end of June, no bookings at all where being accepted for 2016/17. The linked video and carer research shows that there are no acceptable alternatives available - just smoke and mirrors by WBC. Do these facts support "no decision being taken" ? - a resounding no !!!! This campaign is about the council duty of care, disabled and carers rights and is totally apolitical. But it cannot avoid the fact that this cut is being proposed and supported by a Labour administration so we have to take the fight to them as only they can reverse this disaster. Let them know very clearly how you will vote in the May elections unless :- WBC clearly states before the elections that Girtrell will be allowed to continue to operate until any replacement service has been fully researched, defined and properly consulted with carers and service users to ensure it is fit for purpose.
