Although it was not listed within our original demands, I consider the newly launched Bright Spot program to be another success of our petition.

Stemming from the women's safety audit conducted in late 2020, the Bright Spot program was created to give anyone within the downtown core a safe place to go if they are feeling vulnerable or threatened. 8 downtown businesses have already taken the training to become "Safe Space Ambassadors" for the Bright Spot program with 12 more businesses awaiting training on May 3, 2021.

Upon entering a Bright Spot business (identifiable by the Bright Spot sign on the business' front door or window), patrons in need of help can expect to receive comfort and safety as well as be directed to local resources which can offer further assistance to address their unique needs.
