We, the residents and business owners of Edgewood and Eckington in Ward 5, ANC 5F, strongly object to the proposed opening of The Family Tree LLC cannabis dispensary at 2316 4th Street NE, due to concerns about public safety, community well-being, and the potential negative impact on our neighborhood and property values. We are particularly concerned about pedestrian safety and increased traffic congestion; noise and odor disturbances; and the establishment’s close proximity to a daycare, several primary schools, and residential property. 

Studies have shown that the proximity of a marijuana dispensary can lead to a 3% to 9% decrease in property values (source: CATO Institute). Additionally, the Colorado Department of Transportation reported a 10% increase in traffic fatalities in counties with cannabis dispensaries in 2018. We fear similar scenarios would unfold if the proposed dispensary commences operation. We urge the ABCA to thoroughly consider our concerns for the wellbeing of our community and veto the addition of the dispensary at 2316 4th Street NE.
