Prevent the Downsizing of Kinokuniya Books in Takashimaya

The Issue

For many of us, Kinokuniya Books in Takashimaya is not just a bookstore. It is our sanctuary, our second home, and a piece of our history that is being threatened. We are more than mere customers – we are a community whose lives have been significantly touched and enriched by the heart of this outlet. This place is very important to the book community of Singapore

Kinokuniya in Takashimaya is one of the largest bookstores in Singapore and has been a cultural hub for several decades. It has cultivated a legacy unparalleled providing access to a rich variety of books from around the world, catering to diverse reading interests, and fostering a deep love for literature. It is not just a business, but a critical socio-cultural space. Unfortunately, this important hub is facing an impending threat – downsizing.

Such action will limit the diversity of resources this store offers and will negatively impact the hundreds of customers it serves daily. The proposed reduction in size could also result in job losses for dedicated staff that have been part of Kinokuniya's difference in the marketplace.

Personally, kino is my second home where I can feel like myself. And it's like one of the only places you can buy ts cds so.

If we allow Kinokuniya Books in Takashimaya to be downsized, we risk losing an integral part of our local culture and history to economic logic. We implore the management to carefully consider this decision and explore other alternatives. Maintain the current size of our beloved bookstore and help preserve the richness of our community. Join us in our plea to keep Kinokuniya Books in Takashimaya as it is, for the generations to come. Please sign this petition to make your voice heard.#booksarebetterthanbagels
