As a parent to an attendee of Chris's childcare centre, and speaking on behalf of numerous others, we believe that our kids are thriving and growing in a safe and conducive environment here in Oakham. Our children's mental, emotional, and psychological well-being is contingent upon the stability and consistency provided by the childcare centre they trust.

The unfounded plans to shut down this centre will deprive children of the stable environment that Chris’s Childcare Centre provides.

Chris' childcare is only able to operate at its current premises until October 2025. After that, they must have found alternative space or close. Chris' Childcare have worked to find alternative premises but unfortunately none have come to fruition due to circumstances beyond their control. I am sure that many people in this group will understand the huge impact that their closure will have on our community.

We are asking for anybody who knows or has used Chris' Childcare in the past, or anyone who appreciates the importance of child development, or anyone who can see the toll that this closure would have on our community and parents, to help us keep Chris' Childcare open and support our families. Without Chris's Childcare, many of us would be unable to work, and not only that, our children would be unable to experience the love, nurture, education, joy and support that the dedicated team offer every day.

This facility brings together children from diverse ethnic backgrounds, facilitating an early understanding of inclusivity. Studies have shown that children who attend childminding settings like Chris’s have improved social skills and demonstrate higher cognitive abilities (source: National Institute of Child Health and Human Development).

If the centre closes, many children, including my son, will lose their second home. 61 kids in Oakham are enrolled in and benefit from this establishment. This figure alone should showcase the enormous value of this centre to the families that reside in this locality.

We request the concerned officials to reconsider the closing of Chris's Childcare Centre and to safeguard our children's futures. Protect our children's right to an environment that fosters growth, nurtures them, and understands their needs. Support us in preserving the centre that irreplaceably contributes to their pivotal early years of development.
