Hi everyone, just to let you know our online petition to save Balloch Library has now over 700 signatures. Also there is a meeting in the library on Monday 23rd October at 6 30 pm. I discovered today that the space for the proposed new library will consist of the headteacher’s office and a small room leading off it. The statement issued by our Labour councillors that the school library will provide the same facilities is frankly untrue. The space provided is a fraction of the space we have in Balloch Library and it would be impossible to retain the same facilities. One of our signatories also raised the question as to whether a risk assessment had been done in the school to accommodate this latest use by the public. Martin Rooney can perhaps provide us with an answer to this question. I also learned today that all our Labour councillors voted to close Balloch Library and all our SNP councillors abstained. Only one councillor voted against closure and that was Jim Bollan. We have been utterly failed by the very people we elected to protect us and our community.
