After almost 7 years since launching Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, an official statement as been released by the Pocket Camp team on August 22, 2024:

As dedicated players of the Animal Crossing Pocket Camp app, we've invested significant time and financial resources into this happy digital world over the years. It's not just an app – for many of us, it's a cherished community, a creative outlet, and a hobby we dedicate money to. As we reflect on the immense joy the app has brought us, we want to make clear: we don't want to see it go. 

According to Sensor Tower, the game has been downloaded more than 50 million times globally. The impact goes beyond entertainment: a study published by Oxford University indicates that video games can have positive impacts on well-being. Surely, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp has contributed to that positive impact for many users. 

Nintendo, we urge you not to strip the millions of players of the experience and virtual family they have found within the app. Given the significant investments players have made, and the potential well-being benefits games like this bring, we urge you to reconsider the idea of shutting down the Animal Crossing Pocket Camp app.
