Currently with what I have been able to find on the internet and updates from the city, the solar panels they are wanting to put at the prairie park will serve about 350 people. Our town serves about 4,000 people, 567 commercial, and 10 industrial customers. How much of a difference is this actually going to make? I understand you need to start somewhere.
The current solar panels and wind turbines we have are to have said brought back $170,000 in revenue in the first year. If everything is doing so well, why are our bills so high still? Is Geneseo the only ones profiting from this? I understand everything has gone up and the past ten years.. but with everything going up, is it worth the cost? I would like to see the history of utilities in Geneseo since getting the solar panels and wind turbines.
From what I’ve seen, the current project they are talking about would cost about 123,000,000.00 over 30 years. They have received a 1 million renewable energy credit for this project. So our utilities “will go down” but then our taxes will go up to pay for this?? I personally would just like to see the numbers laid out.
I agree with the energy efficiency, but let’s not put it on our prairie park…. Nothing I see makes it worth destroying.
Next city hall meeting is November 12th @ 6pm
