Prevent Quantum Health from Opening a Detox Facility on Allard Road

Prevent Quantum Health from Opening a Detox Facility on Allard Road
The Issue
I am a resident of Bayville, living next door to the proposed site for Quantum Health's 38-room inpatient detox facility on Allard Road. This is an issue that threatens the peace and safety of our entire community. The proposed location has over 40 entrance and exit doors and is only 84 feet away from residential housing, 3 bus stops out front of the building, two daycares, and a church - places where our children play and learn, where we worship and find solace.
In 2019, our township enacted zoning laws to protect us from such situations. These laws were put in place to ensure that facilities like these are not built too close to residential areas or places frequented by vulnerable populations like children or the elderly. If this plan goes through as it stands now, it would be in direct violation of those very laws.
We understand the need for detox centers and support their mission in helping individuals recover from addiction. However, placing such a facility so close to homes and sensitive areas is not acceptable. It poses potential risks including increased traffic congestion, noise pollution and other safety concerns.
We urge Berkeley Township officials to uphold their own zoning laws put into effect in 2019. We ask them to reconsider this decision for the wellbeing of all residents living in Bayville NJ.
Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving the sanctity of our neighborhoods while still supporting responsible solutions for public health issues like addiction recovery services.
