Prevent Misleading Coaching Classes from Offering "Diploma in Architectural Design"
The Issue
The journey as a young architect is always challenging, requiring hardship, dedication and sleepless nights for five years. They work tirelessly to earn a legitimate diploma or degree in Architecture. These students endure the countless hours of difficult coursework, the late-night hours perfecting their designs, and the rigorous examinations ensuring they have the expertise needed in this vital industry. There are no shortcuts to mastery in architecture. This knowledge is earned through hard work and time commitment.
However, we have noticed institutions promoting "Diploma in Architectural Design" courses as a faster way to earn a diploma in Architecture. As a community of Architects, this is misleading and deeply concerning. It disrespects those who have worked hard to earn a legitimate diploma or degree. It also misguides the public and the students into believing these students have acquired a Diploma in Architecture.
This will also lead into these students claiming and working as Architects without due qualifications and misleading clients at large.
These uncertified programs are likely not to impart crucial skills such as construction technology, building law and professional practice, necessary for an architect. This could lead to a lack of proficiency among these students, which could severely affect the industry's future, making the public spaces they conceive less safe and sustainable.
We, the Architectural community, are seeking a resolution to stop these coaching classes from offering a "Diploma in Architectural Design," misleading the students and the public alike. Join us in our cause to maintain the integrity of our profession. We appeal to the concerning bodies to look into this pressing issue immediately. Please sign this petition and support our cause to preserve the quality and integrity of our profession.
