Dear Ms Crosthwaite,

Thank you for getting in touch and for sharing both your own concerns and those expressed within the wider Garelochhead community. I understand how important it is for people to feel safe, informed, and listened to, and I appreciate you taking the time to raise these issues. I have been asked to review your concerns and respond on behalf of ACHA.

As you may know, ACHA is one of four Registered Social Landlords that, together with Argyll & Bute Council, form the HOME Argyll partnership. This partnership uses a single application and a shared allocations policy to ensure that housing across Argyll & Bute is allocated fairly, consistently, and in line with legal requirements.

I want to reassure you that HOME Argyll’s approach places community safety and wellbeing at the heart of its decision‑making. This includes:

Giving the highest priority to people facing homelessness, domestic abuse, harassment, health‑related needs, or requiring essential support.

Using a trauma‑informed, respectful approach when supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

Working closely with a range of partner agencies to assess risk and respond appropriately.

Making sure our statutory responsibilities to homeless households are fully met.

Applying equality protections and accessibility measures so no one is disadvantaged.

Ensuring that no allocation places an individual or a community at greater risk of harm.

Our allocations policy is designed to benefit all residents across Argyll & Bute, and we fully recognise the importance of maintaining strong, safe, and balanced communities. We have heard the concerns raised recently, and I want to assure you that they are being taken seriously.

While I cannot discuss individual cases, I can confirm that we are actively working with our partners to review the situation in Garelochhead. The safety, security, and wellbeing of existing residents remain our top priority, and we are committed to responding to community concerns in a responsible and transparent way.

Thank you again for reaching out. Your feedback plays an important role in helping us support and strengthen our communities.

Kind Regards
