A major intrusion into Guildford's Greenbelt is poised to proceed without the need for planning permission. This is a new village of 74 park homes where the owners are seeking to exploit a legal loophole to thwart the usual protections and considerations regarding environment, sensitive habitats, endangered species, highways and the impact on local people and infrastructure. A nine acre greenfield site is shortly to become a major construction site with hundreds of tonnes of concrete used to create hardstandings and roadways.

Guildford Borough Council has powers to block this development by revoking previously issued Certificates of Existing Lawful Use & Development (CLEUD). The Council need to act urgently before the project gets underway.

We call upon Guildford Borough Council to use its powers to revoke the 2016 and 2019 CLEUD decisions and to protect this greenfield site from development.
