Dear Supporters,
Happy New Year!
Many people still do not know about this petition, so, apart from sharing it with friends and family, we printed 1000 posters (as shown in the picture) and will ask local shops to display them in their shop windows. We are looking for volunteers to talk to your local businesses. If you live locally in the Borough of Richmond Upon Thames and are interested, please feel free to contact us.
As the Borough has a population of approximately 200,000 people, to obtain the Mayor's response, we only need 10,000 signatures, which is 5% of the total required. So it is a very easy target for us!
Meanwhile, we are going to set up stalls in our local high street to collect 1500 signatures for residents who don’t know how to sign. We will need to print 100 petition papers, which cost £20.20 to print them in the library. We also want to print 11 * A6 and 5 * A4 posters for community noticeboards across the borough.(Total: £44.85 including VAT.)
Please help us move the petition to the next level and kindly donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/savepolicestations
If you want to volunteer, please contact us: hello@savepolicestations.org
Let’s get the campaign started!
This is not just about the Twickenham Police Station or the front counter. The Mayor of London wants to close all police stations and sell the buildings. He has succeeded in Teddington and left the old police station building derelict. He claims he doesn’t have enough money to open the police stations to the public, but why, before he wasn’t the mayor, were the police stations in London open 24/7? He needs to answer this question.
