Prevent Clinton Township, NJ from Altering Zoning Laws to Permit Warehouse Construction

Prevent Clinton Township, NJ from Altering Zoning Laws to Permit Warehouse Construction
The Issue
The Township of Clinton, New Jersey is considering changing its zoning laws to allow ExxonMobil or other developers to build warehouses within the township. This move could drastically alter the character of our community and potentially lead to environmental and traffic concerns.
Clinton Township is a part of Hunterdon County, known for its rural charm, natural beauty and one of top three healthiest counties in New Jersey. Changing zoning laws could disrupt this balance by introducing large-scale industrial development into our residential areas. Additionally, warehouses often bring increased truck traffic which can strain local infrastructure and increase pollution levels.
Moreover, according to data from the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), warehouses are significant contributors to air pollution due to their heavy reliance on diesel trucks for transportation. This potential increase in air pollution could negatively impact the health of our residents. But even more concerning, the proposed location would be right across the street from North Hunterdon High School and within 1 mile of several other secondary schools. This location is already pollenated daily with school buses and teenage drivers. Introducing hundreds of tractor trailers daily from warehouse traffic to this area could be catastrophic.
We urge you not only as residents but also as stewards of this land that we love so much - let's keep Clinton Township as it is now – a place where nature thrives alongside people in harmony. We ask that you reject any proposals that would change zoning laws allowing warehouse construction in our township.
Please sign this petition if you agree with preserving the character and environment of Clinton Township and you do not agree with ANY WAREHOUSES in Clinton Township or at the ExxonMobil site.
