Prevent Blum’s Idaho 4 Book Publication

Prevent Blum’s Idaho 4 Book Publication
The Issue
As a fervent advocate for preserving the sacred trust that is the right to a fair and impartial trial, guaranteed by the US constitution, I implore you to join in stopping the publication of Howard Blum's book on the Idaho 4. This book threatens to violate that right in the most flagrant way, exploiting a high-profile crime and potentially contaminating the jury pool before a trial even begins. By presenting his book as the definite recounting of important investigative events (when they are 2nd hand at best), Blum is superseding the rightful legal process and potentially undermining the pursuit of justice. Given that a victim's father has already publicly admonished the false portrayal and the premature conclusions drawn in Blum’s articles, we can see the problematic nature of this publication.
Furthermore, this book is not simply sharing documented facts, but is promising to reveal insiders' information that could influence public opinion. This undermines the pursuit of truth and fairness. Having significant case details exposed in such a way that they cannot be adequately rebutted if they are inaccurate, and coupled with the gag order placed on those who legitimately know the facts, this could taint public perception and thus, the potential jury. We believe that justice is best served in courtrooms, not in sensationalist literature that profits from crime.
Blum may have every right to express his opinions, but when those opinions threaten the integrity of a fair trial for all US citizens, we must act. Do not let Blum’s personal profit topple over the principle that everyone deserves a fair trial. Stand with us to protect our constitutional rights. Sign this petition to prevent Howard Blum from publishing his book on the Idaho 4 case.
