I am a resident of Teaneck, NJ. I am a mother and a THS alumni and like many others in our community, I deeply value the family-oriented atmosphere that we have cultivated here. The growing amount of Smoke & Vape shops opening in our township is concerning to me. There is nothing positive about such establishments opening in our neighborhood, especially some of the stores were already cited and charged for selling to underage minors. 

The growing influence these shops are having on our children is particularly distressing. We strive to provide them with an environment that promotes healthy habits and choices. Most importantly a safe community. The growing amount of smoke shops would contradict these efforts by normalizing smoking and vaping behaviors.

Moreover, according to nj.gov “one of the main issues with these products is the lack of consistent regulation and oversight, leading to concerns about product quality, potency and labeling accuracy. Hemp-dervied delta products are often found at gas stations, convenience stores and smoke shops and THEY ARE NOT REGULATED by the NJ-CRC.”  

We must protect what makes Teaneck special - our children and its future residents! Let’s all ensure our teens and kids have a safe and peaceful environment and keep our town from being compromised by these business ventures.
