The Issue

I have had the privilege of living in countries where telecom services are transparent, customer-focused, and priced reasonably. Experiencing such fair treatment has opened my eyes to the issues with Rogers Communications, a leading telecommunications provider in Canada. Rogers is engaged in practices that seem exploitative and deceitful, with the way they handle pricing and customer service. In an era where consumer rights should be at the forefront, such practices are unacceptable and regressive.

Rogers has been reported to repeatedly keep customers on hold for extended periods or to disconnect calls, especially when clients attempt to cancel services. They force customers to interact with representatives instead of providing online cancellation options, which they are supposed to offer. This practice is not only inconvenient but also often manipulative, as they try to push unwanted promotions onto the customers.

A transparent and fair telecom service provision is a basic right of consumers, and it is time to hold Rogers accountable for its failure to align with these principles. Other countries have shown that telecoms can thrive while being fair and customer-centric.

We demand that Rogers stop its unfair pricing tactics and deceitful customer service practices immediately. This includes providing an easy and accessible way for customers to cancel their services online without unnecessary interventions, holding their representatives accountable to honorable and ethical standards, and ensuring that customers are not forced into long waits or disconnected when requesting cancellations.

Furthermore, Rogers must align its pricing with fair market standards, ensuring that Canadian customers are not paying disproportionate amounts compared to other nations' markets. Transparency and fairness must become the cornerstone of Rogers' customer engagements.

I urge all fellow consumers who have faced similar challenges with Rogers, and anyone who believes in fair customer service and pricing, to join me in demanding change. Together, we can pressure Rogers to respect consumer rights and enhance its service policies. Sign this petition and bring about a fair telecommunications service in Canada.
