Richard Pineau is a professor in the mathematics department here at Wayne State University and also a Wayne State Alumni. Professor Richard is a part of the faculty labeled as ''lecturers'' which unfortunately means they have to sign three-year contracts and may not be renewed at the end of those three years. Lectures do not get tenures which means job security. His contract is ending this May and he received a letter signed by the department chairs, Dr. Hengguang Li and CLAS Dean Dr. Stephanie Hartwell informing him that his contract will expire soon and that his appointment will not be RENEWED. Professor Richard does not deserve this; he is by far one of the best professors at Wayne State University. Everyone that has had Richard as a professor can confirm this. He goes out of his way to always check up on students and wants us all to succeed. Richard values his student's mental health and offers his personal number to students when they need anything. He is very accessible out of class and makes learning really interesting. My classmates and I along with former students of Professor Richard's will not stop fighting for him until he gets his contract renewed and gets treated like the amazing professor he is. Professor Richard is the best at his job and Wayne State will be at a big loss if they lose him.
