Hello!

2018 is drawing to close...animals worldwide continue to be exploited, tortured, abused, forced into servitude and bred by humans for profit under the name of conservation and education. They need your voice.

The "new extended" sun bear enclosure (of Pit #1) is completed, with the Bandung Zoo now under the new management of Taman Safari. This is the same group of people who allegedly tortured their elephants (in October 2018) and drugged big cats cubs for selfies with tourists ( in 2016).

Note: [ The above pictures - on the left is Pit #1 (where Kardit lives) and it extends into the "new enclosure" seen on the right. They are separated by the night den] There is nothing being done on Pit #2 as far as I know.

Taman Safari is run by PKBSI (Indonesia Zoo Ass) Secretary General Mr Tony Samampau.

It does not appear that the recommendations made by Wildwelfare for the sun bears enclosure were followed...there is no grass nor leaf substrate for them to dig around. This habitat is anything but natural. It is filled with sand, with little to no enrichment. It appears that the Bandung Zoo is more interested in spending money for a "Skywalk" as a gimmick to gin up foot traffic than provide a natural habitat for the sun bears or any of the other animals that are held in captivity. Maybe they should provide the sunbears with deck chairs, sunglasses and little cocktails with umbrellas to finish off their "beach ensemble"?

Zoo protectionist Sybelle Foxcroft of Cee4life and the Bandung zoo promotion of the recent birthday celebrations for the Bengal tigers and sun bear cubs appear to be nothing more than smoke and mirrors ploy to fool people into thinking that the captive animals are loved and well cared for.

Take a look at this footage taken by a local news network when the Bandung zoo celebrated their Skywalk completion. https://www.facebook.com/tribunjabar/videos/10155404500982353/ Watch minute mark 3.30... How is putting leashes on binturongs and then forcing them to take selfies and fondled by visitors on a daily basis, education and conservation? ( "with declining population the Binturong is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List" ) You will not see the Bandung Zoo or Sybelle Foxcroft promoting this (lets see if the Bandung Zoo will get the local news network to take the video down)
