Hello! The picture above is a skinny and sickly looking camel in Bandung Zoo. Picture was taken on 1st January 2018. This poor camel will be worked/forced to give rides till she drops dead. As per my previous updates, Bandung Zoo has had a busy year breeding their captive animals…hey, cute babies bring in foot traffic and generate revenue. These babies will be the next generation to be exploited. Their lives will be no different from what their parents are enduring. In May 2017, Bandung Zoo’s exclusive NGO partner Cee4Life/Sybelle Foxcroft and their vet tried to explain away Kardit's skinniness. They said that Kardit is 26yrs old, “like an old man’, near end of his captive life. 8 months later, Kardit is suddenly 30years old, and in December 2017 he became the proud father of Rika. This is coming from a zoo who made a claim with their NGO partner Cee4life that, bull hooks have been set aside (bull hooks are still being used). A zoo that denied medical aid to Yani, the endangered Sumatra elephant as she laid shackled to the ground and suffered the most horrific demise and the zoo claimed they did no wrong. (As a result of pressure from this petition, the zoo started to feed the sun bears and Kardit appears to have gain some weight, which is prove that he was previously not getting sufficient food!) It is also very troubling and disturbing to read that the Bandung Zoo allowed the female sun bear to birth her cub in a cage with other adult sun bears. According to zoo officials, they watched the mama sun bear dug a hole to hide the cub but as the other sun bears kept disturbing the cub, she was taken away from her mother, after 11 days, apparently for her safety http://www.koran-jakarta.com/pengunjung-bandung-zoo-berebut-amati-anak-beruang/ I would like to know why wasn’t the mother put in a separate cage to birth? Why was she not allowed to nurse her cub, after all she has been doing it for 11 days! Oh by the way, foster parents are being solicited for Rika and the lucky foster parents will have the paid privilege of feeding her.
