Since 2016, we have read about the negligence by the Bandung Zoo management that lead to the horrific death of Yani the endangered Sumatran elephant and the endangered sun bears eating their own feces with numerous images and videos of Kardit the sun bear showing his rib cage and begging for scraps of food. Bandung Zoo exclusive partner Sybelle Foxcroft of Cee4Life has continually said that the zoo love their animals, and that PKBSI (Indonesian Zoos and Aquariums Associations) has been helping the zoo since May 2016 and Cee4Life helping since March 2017. In the past year, Bandung Zoo had been super busy with their breeding programs which Sybelle Foxcroft of Cee4Life said she knew nothing about when one of their followers brought it up in Cee4Life facebook page. The response/comment of "what breeding program" made by Cee4Life, has since been deleted. Bandung Zoo is again busy this new year, planning to re-brand themselves and just launched a new logo competition with a prize money of 5M IDR to be awarded to a winner https://bandung.merdeka.com/halo-bandung/sayembara-logo-kebun-binatang-bandung-berikan-hadiah-jutaan-rupiah-180105a.html Wouldn't this logo competition prize money of approximately US$372 better spent towards enclosure upgrades, food and enrichment for the animals? The zoo appears to have a lot of money to throw around don't they? So why do the animals continue to live in deplorable conditions and why is there little to no enrichment for them?
