Animal Asia's response: “ I am afraid that it is highly unlikely that we could ever get these bears out of Indonesia. Unfortunately a similar situation exists at Surabaya Zoo with bears (off-exhibit) stuck in tiny cages for many years - we have tried to get the authorities to remove these bears and place them at a sanctuary but without any luck. I was hoping that Animal Asia and Scorpion could work together to secure the bears' release. Although I am very disappointed and heartbroken by Animal Asia’s response, I feel that we must try and until we do, we will never know. So I contacted Change for Animals Foundation yesterday (I contacted them last year as well). Their response: “we are currently working with Scorpion Foundation, based here in Indonesia, who are working directly with Bandung Zoo. Through this channel we will continue to work, and hope that ultimately the zoo will be closed “ I need everyone who signed this petition to please, email Change for Animals Foundation and Scorpion and urge them to speak with Bandung Zoo officials to release the bear. Until the zoo agrees to release them, there can be NO rescue.
