Mr. President,
 
This is the masterstroke that will preserve your legacy and the Republican Party:
 
1. Tell your Congress, while you have it, to return bankruptcy protections, immediately, to federal student loans, and include a 1% endowment tax on the wealthiest universities to pay for it.
 
2. Scrap the current student loan bankruptcy process implemented by your predecessor, and announce that your Departments of Education and Justice will cease opposing student loan borrowers in bankruptcy court while Congress passes the legislation.
 
Obviously, you must do this now, while you can.
 
Nearly 20% of the GOP base have these loans, and 85% of them are hopelessly underwater. Nearly 40 million Americans of all political stripes are in a similar position, and the Democrats betrayed them all under Biden. These people vote. They voted this week.
 
This is the master-stroke that you need to revitalize your Presidency and your party.
 
You have been very badly counseled on the student loan issue. Stop listening to whoever is giving you advice. They are obviously not on your side.
 
You may be the only President with the courage to pull this off. But you must act now.
