Dear fellow student loan borrowers,
I graduated in 1992 with approximately $35,000 in student loan debt. Since then, I’ve paid $100,000+ — and, thanks to accrued interest capitalization, I still owe over $36,000!
I’m not alone. Many of you have your own version of this story: years of payments, sacrifices, and a balance that just grows fatter along with student loan servicers.
For more than eight(?) years, I’ve supported Alan Collinge and Student Loan Justice. I’ve made regular donations, and I’m now happily a monthly donor. Yet I still see Alan having to ask, week after week, for support for basic survival.
We can change that together.
I wish I could spend my days fighting the student loan system. But like most of us, I must work, pay my bills, and keep a roof over my head. What I can do is support someone who fights relentlessly on my behalf—and yours.
We need our pistol-fisted General Patton on the battlefield, not scrambling to make rent.
If you've seen the movie "Patton" you know the pistol reference and what kind of determination Patton had - and Alan has.
Patton had a nation behind him. Alan has us. For me, $10 or $20 a month means skipping a couple cups of coffee-shop slop. That’s an easy trade to help keep Alan fighting for us.
With thousands of people following this work, small monthly contributions can add up to dependable support. Just 100 people giving $10 a month would provide $1,000 every month. Imagine what broader participation could do—and how much less time Alan would have to spend asking for the next few hundred dollars.
Some people simply cannot afford another monthly commitment. I understand that. This invitation is for those of us who can spare a little and want to turn our shared frustration into sustained action.

This group is important. We are, literally, the ONLY uncorrupted group of significant size fighting for all student loan borrowers. If we disappear I see no real resistance to the student loan machine. Will you please just make this easier on us and help? We're pushing the Republicans today, including one last message to Trump before the midterms.
Good things are happening. Our group is growing by hundreds of people per day. We're about to have a new Congress. The student loan scam gets weaker and weaker every day, despite how the media is reporting it.
One bright spot: it's being reported that the Treasury Dept really doesn't want to start garnishing wages. The cracks in the foundation of this loan scam are becoming to great for even the media to ignore. If everyone in this group were fighting harder (or fighting at all), we'd be the force that finally solves this problem for everyone. This is truly what Democracy is, today-
We're doing everything we can on this end, folks.
There is every reason to be hopeful.
