Everyone-
I'm THRILLED to report that, at long last, we have a bipartisan student loan bankruptcy bill in the US Senate to fight for. The bill returns standard bankruptcy protections to all federal student loan borrowers, with a retroactive) ten-year waiting period. The bill is being jointly introduced by Senator Durbin and Senator John Cornyn (Texas).
Thanks to Diane and Linda for their testimony in the hearings, and everyone who submitted their stories. They are being used, and will be used going forward.
Please remember: Getting bankruptcy back is a necessary first step to getting loan cancellation. Meaningul, ACTUAL loan cancellation will ONLY happen with bankruptcy back in place. Please see this short video to understand why this is true.
We have a lot of work to do.
