Today will you please email your local state media, and ask them to report on this breaking research, which shows that 19 states owe more than their entire state budgets in student loan debt?

Here are email addresses for your news media in your state.   Say something like this:

Hi-  Are you aware of this?  This is breaking news that has not yet been reported, but should be.  It is unacceptable. Please report on it, and ask the Governor for comment.

It's best to put this in your own words, make it personal, and relevant to your state.  You might also mention the petition, which now stands at 990,000 signatures...so close to a million!

Right now, the President likely thinks that the tiny loan cancellations that happened in the past two weeks "check the box", and will try to move away from the student loan issue.  We cannot let that happen, and getting the Governors and legislatures of the states to understand how these loans are robbing their economies is a very key part of making this issue a priority- and for both political parties at the local level.

We are the pioneers in this fight.  This petition requires more than your signature for success.  We all need to accept that responsibility, and put a little extra time and effort into this in order to get these loans cancelled the right way, for our own good, and for the good of hundreds of millions of people who will follow in our footsteps.
