Wayne Johnson
It is pretty rare that we can support a political candidate. It is EXTREMELY RARE that we can support a republican candidate. But the former COO of the federal lending system, Wayne Johnson, is running for senate in Georgia. After running the federal student loan program, he now is calling for both widespread student loan cancellation, and is ALSO calling unambiguously for the return of bankruptcy protections to student loans. Here are a couple of clips from him in Atlanta at a Black Chamber of Commerce event. Pay attention to part II in particular.
He can win this race, folks. It is a special election with, like, 20 candidates. The incumbent is very unlikely to win, because she got caught selling off stock before the market tanked. His main opposition is likely to be Doug Collins, who is absolutely terrible on the student loan issue. Wayne could pull this off. He needs you help. Whether you live in Georgia or not, I believe we should be putting a lot of effort into helping him.
