Dear Supporters, Over the past few weeks I've been re-reading the 1000's of comments from you all. December 2015 commutations made by President Obama were a real blow for me. Although, I was truly happy for the families to be reunited, especially Sharanda Jones, when I did not see my Dad's name on the list, I was a bit devastated. It was as if the emotions - trauma and devastation from my father's arrest in 1988 - immediately resurfaced and it was gut-wrenching. This work has been cathartic for me, but gosh somedays I just never know how it will hit me. It never goes away, especially because my siblings and I continue to live it everyday. However, re-reading your comments and viewing your overwhelming support is a wonderful reminder for me to keep going and keep speaking out in support of getting my Dad clemency. Today, in the NY/NJ Tri-State Area, WPIX 11 News featured a story on whether change.org petitions really work. Well, they sure do. However, for criminal justice reform clemency petitions on CHANGE.org to reach President Obama's desk there needs to be 100K signatures. Our petition is currently at 38,475 supporters.That means we need 62K more signatures in order to reach 100,000. Now more than ever, we need support for our petition.
