The Cameroon American Council's 5th Annual Tour sponsored by Empak Corp of NJ and Meridian Pharmacy of Texas; was a huge success.
Through the White House, three federal agencies joined our tour, HHS/ACF, DoT, and DHS/USCIS.
Our CAC New Jersey stop was hosted by Union County Chair, Honorable Mohammad Jalloh (2nd generation Guinean American) at Union County College in Elizabeth, NJ.
USCIS New Jersey Director Mr. Thompson who has been employed as an immigration federal official since 1975, made history. This was the VERY first time USCIS had done a culturally sensitive outreach to Africans.
Never mind that Africans were stigmatized on Ebola in New Jersey. None of this prompted USCIS to done an outreach until our CAC 5th Annual 10 State Tour which took place Sunday, April 26th 2015.
That information of lack of culturally sensitive, religious and language appropriate outreach in the African community on Ebola-related TPS, led to Cameroon American Council immediately reaching out to New Jersey congressional delegation (because immigration is a federal issue).
