On March 14, 2024, Terrance Stanton , experienced a troubling incident at FCC Coleman Low. During a town hall meeting in the inmate housing unit, Federal Bureau Prison Staff subjected him to pepper spray, handcuffing, and physical assault. Terrance's simple inquiry to the lieutenant resulted in an excessive use of force. While being handcuffed by the lieutenant, Terrance was pepper sprayed and forcefully thrown to the ground in front of the entire unit. Later, as additional officers  arrived, the lieutenant asked about the location of the unit's cameras, then directed them to lift Terrance and slam him to the ground while still restrained in handcuffs before escorting him to the SHU (solitary confinement/special housing unit).

The next day, Terrance was issued a disciplinary notice for an alleged assault on staff. Stanton is recognized by both staff and inmates as a mediator who promotes positive behavior and discourages wrongdoing. He is dedicated to personal reform and assisting others in their journey toward rehabilitation. With no history of violence, Terrance is assessed as having a low risk of recidivism or engaging in violent behavior.

Those acquainted with Terrance’s behavior among the staff find it peculiar that he would face disciplinary action. Additionally, it is recognized by staff members that the lieutenant in question has a documented history of significant aggressiveness.

Despite my discussions with the leadership at FCC Coleman Low, no action has been taken against their staff. My husband conveyed, "If my self-improvement relied on incentives from the BOP or court system, I would have lost motivation. I am grateful for my dedication to pleasing Allah, myself, my wife, and kids. I refuse to let BOP staff or anyone else portray me as incorrigible or unfit for society. I trust that Allah (God) will acknowledge my efforts and good deeds."

The need for my Terrance’s release, fueled by his dedication to reform and the unjust treatment he's endured from staff, alongside numerous other factors, is urgent. We aim to bring attention to his case, as well as the plight of other inmates facing similar mistreatment in prison. Please support us by sharing this post and spreading awareness!
