Currently, there are less than 60 Vaquitas left in the wild. They are a rare species of porpoise that are related to dolphins. These majestic creatures are dying at an alarming rate and unless the United States, China, and Mexico act quickly, the Vaquita will go extinct. One big issue is that the fishing of totoaba (another endangered species), as well as other fish in the Gulf of California is stealing the Vaquitas' food supply and also catching Vaquitas in nets on accident. Totoaba bladder is considered a delicacy in China. The only way to ensure that Vaquitas have a future is to make fishing in the Gulf of California illegal.
